The Athlete's Table x Field Work Nutrition: The Perfect Post-Workout Smoothie

Posted by casey weaver on

We are ever on the quest for the perfect smoothie recipe for any and every occasion, and welcome into our realm anyone that helps to contribute to our endless seeking.  Enter...The Athlete's Table...the premiere spot on the internet for athletes (anyone active, really) that likes to eat clean AND eat well (ie does not want to sacrifice flavor or enjoyment in their meals just because it is "healthy."

The Athlete's Table got their hands on a container of our Primo Smoothie and the result is nothing less than what you would expect from formally trained Chef who is now a dedicated triathlete committed to cooking healthy food that is approachable, easy to prepare, tastes great...and brings people together...the way food should!

We love Chef Aaron Vinten's creation using our Primo Smoothie as it uses our smoothie base for a solid dose of clean protein to help with recovery, and delivers all the beneficial ingredients in Primo that you already know and love, like probiotics, omega-3's, anti-inflammatory compounds, vitamins and minerals...and more.  But This smoothie is so much more...and offers so much more when it comes to taste.

Named after the King of Rock and Roll himself...the Blended Elvis combines the core ingredients of Elvis's infamously famous fried peanut butter and banana sandwich...in a smoothie.  The carbohydrate base is from bananas and dates.  First of all this is just a great flavor combination (thanks, Elvis)...but dates are also one of THE BEST sources of carbohydrates when it comes to rapidly refueling your energy levels.  Aaron supercharges this smoothie with the combination of cocoa nibs and maca powder.  Both are generally accepted "superfoods."  Cocoa is rich in antioxidants that help with cellular repair post-workout, and maca has quite a few reported benefits, ranging from energy stimulation to brain health support from the healthy fats it contains.  Another stand out ingredient is bee pollen, which although it has quite a few reported health benefits surrounding it including immune support and additional antioxidant protection...we simply love mainly it for it's flavor (and the fact that it comes from bees!  See: our logo).

If you are looking for some inspiration when it comes to post-workout smoothies, breakfast smoothies, or any other type of smoothie recipe, this one from the Athlete's Table is a great place to go.  Or if you are just looking for a way to START incorporating healthy nutrition via healthy smoothies into your diet...there is no better introduction.
