Without a doubt, one of our favorite things about our Primo Smoothie is its versatility.  Our vanilla Primo Smoothie was already infinitely versatile, and our recently launched cacao flavor is just as versatile.  Which means both flavors combined are double infinity versatile - or something like that.  But in all seriousness, our new cacao Primo Smoothie has the same great nutrition you have come to know and love (obsess over?) as our vanilla flavor, but now in a rich, smooth, chocolaty variety.

This chocolate cherry protein smoothie recipe has become a new standby.  The great thing about using frozen cherries (or any frozen fruit for that matter) in your protein smoothie is that they are always in season...and always at their peak ripeness.  Keep a bag on hand in the freezer, and with minimal ingredients, you have a rich, sweet, healthy smoothie at the ready to fuel your day.

You may have already noticed and are ready to point out to us...yes, Primo Smoothie does already have tart cherry in its ingredients?  Why?  Well tart cherry has been studied pretty extensively and is one of the few whole-food ingredients that has been shown to help reduce inflammation in the body.  So with this recipe made with frozen (or fresh) cherries, you are really doubling down on the benefit.  This is great for anyone, but especially good for athletes or anyone who lives an active lifestyle.

So here's the recipe!

-2 scoops (or 1 packet) cacao Primo Smoothie

-10 oz mixer of choice (we like unsweetened almond milk)

-1 small ripe banana

-1/2 cup frozen cherries
